Create Daily Logs

What is a Daily Log?

Daily Logs are the primary way information gets into RecordLens. There are two types of Daily Logs: Site Logs and Activity Logs.

Site Logs are attached to a site or project.

Activity Logs are attached to a specific activity on the schedule.

Otherwise, they are almost identical.

A Daily Log exists on a per user, per day basis.

You can't edit Daily Logs from past days, and you can't edit anyone else's Daily Logs.

What is inside of a Daily Log?

Both types of Daily Logs contain the same information:

  • Text notes

  • Photos

  • Attachments

We have designed them to contain as much information as possible, while requiring as little work as possible from our users.

How to create an Activity Log

Once you have found an Activity from the Schedule page, go to the "Logs" tab and click on "Start Logging."

The "Logs" tab

You will now be creating a Daily Log for this Activity. If you remember from above, this means you're creating an Activity Log.

Once you click the "Edit" button, you can start typing, taking photos, and adding additional data.

Write Notes
Capturing a Photo
Saving a Photo
Updating Activity progress
Adding Attachment Data

Any time you take photos or update text, your entire Activity Log is automatically saved.

How to create a Site Log

As mentioned before, a Site Log is nearly identical to an Activity Log, except it's not tied to an Activity. It is just tied to Project or Site.

To create a Site Log, simply go to the Site Logs tab and follow the same instructions as for an Activity Log.
